Moving out? Your place can pay you one last time.

You already know your landlord and you already live there. Help the next tenant find your place, and get your Move-Out Reward when they move in. Best results if you post 2 to 3 months before you move.

Ask your landlord

"I'm moving out. Can I find you the next tenant?" Ask about every charge the next tenant will pay: caution, agreement, service charge, estate dues, anything else.

Post your place

Take photos of every corner with your phone and answer a few quick yes-or-no questions. It only takes a few minutes.

Show it to a serious tenant

They've already seen the photos, the price and the location, so you won't be showing it to ten people.

Get your reward

When the new tenant moves in and confirms everything was as described, you get your Move-Out Reward.

Questions people ask

If you're moving out

Do I have to find someone before I leave?

No. It's completely optional. If nobody takes your place, you move out as normal and nothing changes.

How much is the Move-Out Reward?

It depends on your rent: ₦40,000 for rent up to ₦500k, ₦70,000 up to ₦1M, ₦120,000 up to ₦2M, ₦200,000 up to ₦4M, and ₦300,000 above that. Amounts may change while we launch, and we'll confirm yours before you post anything. You get it once the new tenant has moved in and confirms everything was as you described.

Who can get the reward?

Tenants who actually live in the place they're posting. We check your rent receipt (it should show you've lived there a while), and the place should look lived-in when the new tenant views it. One reward per person per year, because you only move out once.

When should I post?

2 to 3 months before you move out works best. It gives the next tenant time to find your place, see it, and arrange their move.

Do I need my landlord's permission?

Yes. Ask them first, and confirm the rent and any other charges with them. The landlord decides who moves in, and the new tenant pays rent straight to the landlord.

What should I ask my landlord?

Whether they're happy for you to find the next tenant, and every charge the next tenant will pay: rent, caution, agreement, service charge, estate dues, and anything else. If something doesn't apply, that's fine, just say so. We'll send you a short message you can forward to your landlord.

What do I actually have to do?

Take photos of every corner with your phone, answer a few quick questions (mostly yes or no), and show the place once to a serious tenant. Be honest about any damage. It saves you from wasted viewings.

If you're looking for a place

What will I pay?

What the landlord charges, listed on the listing: the rent, and things like caution, an agreement fee or a service charge if the landlord asks for them. The person moving out confirms every charge with the landlord, but always double-check before you pay.

How do I know the listing is real?

We check the outgoing tenant's rent receipt and that their name matches. When you go to view, make sure the person showing you is the person in their profile photo. Before you pay, your bank shows the account name. It must match the landlord.

Is RentStraight an agent?

No. We just connect you with the person moving out. You rent straight from the landlord, and your rent goes straight to the landlord.
